setting the mood.

location sets the mood and amplifies it while providing a beautiful backdrop for the photos.

first and foremost, the location should be meaningful to you. the background of your photos should be something that relates to your personality, your hobby/work, your personal back story, anything that makes you, you. it shouldn't be overpowering or distracting that it takes away from the main subject(s). choose a location you love. if you have mulitple on your list, choose the one that you aesthetically love the most.

choose your look and feel:

urban, homey, nature, vintage, beach, etc

match the colors of the environment and clothing.

picking the right time of the day:

for outdoors sessions, early morning or late afternoon is the best time.

for indoors sessions, any time of the day.

monitoring the weather:

weather is a huge factor in helping you pick the right location. rain can postpone or cancel a scheduled shoot, especially if the place is outdoors.
